How it works
Why a clean submission is faster
Standard timelines stretch because briefs arrive incomplete, maps are vague, and the risk assessment gets revised three times. Express front-loads all of that.

Everything geotagged first
Shot list, altitude bands, coordinates and date windows are finished before a single form is uploaded.

Cross-checked against zones
Each filming segment is tested against KKOP and restricted areas at intake, so no location is discovered to be unflyable after filing.

Clean on first pass
Each submission to DGCA/DKPPU, AirNav and the airport authority is complete the first time. The back-and-forth is where the weeks go.

Buffer where it matters
Night work, formations and anything resembling an aerial show get extra days built in rather than filed optimistically.
A documentary in January 2026 went from intake to written approvals in 7 working days because every segment was geotagged and cross-checked before filing. A multi-day real estate and beach shoot in August 2025 cleared in 8, having been confirmed in early July — before the rush window opened.

Express does not move a file up a queue and does not skip a step. The compression comes entirely from the submission being complete on first pass. Figures are as of August 2026.
Peak season is the real deadline
July to September and December to early January bring heavier traffic into Ngurah Rai and far more event and media permits across the island. Authorities are working through volume, and a simple request submitted late takes longer — particularly near Kuta, Seminyak, Nusa Dua and Sanur, all close to the 15 km buffer.
To keep an express track through those months, projects are locked in at least 15–20 working days before the first shooting date, even though the express work itself still runs in about 5–10. The lock-in is what buys the speed, not the effort afterwards.
Peak season also changes how certain work is read. Fireworks, drone-show formations and night events near crowded beaches are treated more carefully by every airspace stakeholder, so anything that resembles an aerial show gets extra buffer days rather than an optimistic filing.
Where express still works, and how fast

Denpasar city
Often intersects controlled airspace and, in some sectors, KKOP. The full chain applies, so allow at least 10 working days even on an express track.

Northern waterfalls
Away from the airport zone, the focus shifts to conservation rules, local government letters and community consent. A documentary crew cleared one in 6 working days.

Coral reef research
Adds environmental and sometimes academic ethics review. With the research proposal and marine park or university coordination provided early, 7–12 working days.
